How can fashion become an act of defiance in a country where women’s clothing is monitored through drones and smartphone apps? Sentenced to prison in 2017 for clothing deemed “contrary to Islamic morals,” Farnaz Abdoli uses fashion as a form of resistance, identity and freedom.

Join AR-Alumna Farnaz Abdoli, alongside Artists at Risk (AR) Co-Founders and Directors Marita Muukkonen and Ivor Stodolsky, for a keynote and discussion at the World Village Festival. The conversation is set to explore women’s resistance in Iran, the persecution Abdoli faced for her work as a fashion designer and her journey into exile.
